Why Bad Taste

The creation of Bad Taste Boutique and the idea behind "Giving Forgotten Glam a New Night Out'. I never had the chance to wear a fancy formal dress. I was a "fat" girl growing up in the 1990's. I was never asked to prom because I was told I was too ugly. I escaped that hell and blossomed. But the big dress always escaped me. Even when I got married, we eloped, on a beach and I wore a short dress. Later in life, I tried to get my girlfriends to go try on big dresses with me just for fun. But it never happened.

Until it did!

For my 47th birthday, my closest girlfriends threw me a party on one of their farms. I saw my chance and ran to a thrift store and bought all of us ballgowns! We had so much fun running around on the farm, in the dresses and not caring about being proper or staying clean. Memories were made!

I fell in love with the dresses I found at the thrift store and giving them the day they were created for. I started thrifting more and more dresses.

I began to realize, these dresses were MADE to be worn. Not just once and hung in a closet and forgotten about.

Save the dresses!

Finding these gorgeous dresses hanging in thrift stores broke my heart. They were loved for only a night and set aside in the back of a closet to be donated years later. I felt a connection to the dresses that were deemed "tacky", "outdated" or just plain "cringe" They were created to be worn.  I wanted to wear them all, they deserved better. And that's how Bad Taste Boutique:  Giving Forgotten Glam a New Night Out was born.
